Warren Geyer hails from East London. Completed his schooling at Selborne College and tertiary education at UCT, where he graduated with a BSc Civil Engineering degree in 1977. On the sports field he achieved Provincial Colours playing hockey for Western Province. He later took up road running doing an up and down Comrades and 8 Two Oceans marathons amongst others.
Warren spent a year at the Cape Provincial Roads, before joining a family business operating in the Transkei. After three years in the retail sphere he returned to his Engineering roots where he joined Norland Construction, a Civil Engineering Construction company in Queenstown, becoming a Director and shareholder some 5 years later. A busy construction career left much of the hard work in bringing up a family of three children to his wife Jenny.
Warren has a strong conviction about offering his services to the business or sporting body from which he had benefitted, and thus served on the National Council of SAFCEC from 2002 to 2009, Club Capt of UCT Hockey 1976, Road Running & Bowls Club committees. Now retired in Sedgefield, he describes himself as a “ Commodity Junkie “ taking a keen interest in the markets. If the country can secure some inspired leadership from the Dept of Mining & Resources, he sees a bright future in the commodity space, and the future prosperity of the South African Mining sector.
